So much to do, so little time!

It seems as though there are SO many things to do around this time of year. We have been making SO many Christmas crafts in our classroom this week it is starting to get ridiculous! We have been reading LOTS of Christmas books. Yesterday I read my favorite Christmas book which (embarassingly) is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I love that book and I love the movie. I am always sure to share both with my Kindergarteners each year. Today I read The Polar Express which is a wonderful book. Many people now know the movie but the book is really well written and beautifully illustrated. The kids all sat there listening to the story in complete silence. They were hanging on every word and hardly interrupting the story, which is a Christmas miracle in itself this time of year!
I think tomorrow I will read The Night Before Christmas. I have found that the old fashioned wording in that books makes it harder for my kids to attend to but they still enjoy it. This class has been really into The Twelve Days of Christmas book/song this year.
On Monday we are making gingerbread men (wish me luck) and at some point we have to make parent gifts! I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas season and are making many happy memories. :)

Look What I Made!

So, as I mentioned in my "It's Fall" post, I went to Michael's craft store because they were having some good sales. I got a ton of ribbon for 5 for $1.00 and some beautiful scrapbooking paper for 5 for $1.00 as well! So, I decided to make some stationary. I don't know if I will use it as a gift for a family party where we bring handmade items or if I will just save it for myself. I LOVE it! I came up with the combonations on my own which is usually very difficult for me, which is why I am so pleased! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was hectic but nice. I had to write a very, very long paper tonight but I had a lovely night by myself where I could cook dinner and make some crafts while watching a chick flick. It was a great way to unwind at the end of a busy week and weekend. Now all I have to do is clean up, take a shower, and relax in bed. Chad has to work tonight so I have the place to myself (and sometimes I don't mind that!)

It's Fall!

Today is the first official day of Fall and the leaves are starting to turn. If you ignore the fact that it was in the 80s today and that it will be again tomorrow it really is starting to feel fall-like around here. Well, I went to Michael's craft store on Saturday because everything for fall was 1/2 off and I wanted to do something crafty. I bought some fall flowers and a styrofoam pumpkin and went to work. I am very happy with the result and I am proud of my craftiness!

Everyone Needs a Hobby!

So, a few months ago a friend of mine, Alison, asked me to join her at a new club called Stampers 10. It is a group that gets together once a month to make stamping activities. We mostly make cards and learn new stamping and paper craft techniques. At the club we make 3 cards a week but we also have to spend 15 dollars out of the stamping order catalog. At first I didn't want to join because we were watching our money but Chad said, "everyone needs a hobby." So I joined. And, I kinda love it! I have taken to making cards for holidays and family events. The biggest problem is that I am not a very straight cutter and I am not a very good layout artist. But, oh well, its homemade and it shows I care. The cards above are for my cousin's wedding shower and wedding, Chad's cousin's wedding, and my dad for Father's Day. I just thought I would share!
